Description

Euterpe, “muse of music” and “lyric poetry” in “Greek mythology” and a scientific name of the acai berry. It is also the name of the singer and songwriter from Roaraima (Brazil) who released her debut album titled “Batida Brasileira” on Afro:Baile Records. Recorded between February and April 2009 in Bethlehem, the album is guided by musical arrangements by bassist Para Adelbert Carneiro and Percussion Trio Manari. The newest CD contains compositions by both Carneiro and Manari, along with various composers from the northern region of Brazil.

Born in Boa Vista, RR, Brazil's border with Guyana and Venezuela, Euterpe toasts listeners of her first CD with a natural blend of rhythms that represent the present day in her region. African -Caribbean indigenous music, samba, salsa fusion, cumbia, Marabaixo, xote Bragantine, naiambing, reggae and zouk are some of the ingredients that give the rhythms and flavors heard on Batida Brasileira.
